Welcome and thank you for your interest in our school. This website is designed to provide information for parents and friends and we hope you will explore our site.
Middleton Tyas Church of England Primary School was founded in 1862 and is part of the family of church schools within the Bradford, Ripon and Leeds Diocese.
The school was inspected by Ofsted in April 2010 and was deemed to be a good school with outstanding features.
The school serves the villages of Middleton Tyas, Moulton, Aldbrough St. John and Stanwick. Over the years our roll has risen steadily and, in response to the demand for places, a new building was opened in 2004. We are very proud of our beautiful, purpose built primary school with hall, library, five classrooms, floodlit multi use games area and changing rooms.
The school, which attracts pupils from both inside and outside the catchment area, provides a modern, well equipped learning environment within an attractive village setting. There are no more than two age groups in any class and teachers are supported by teaching assistants. The average class size is twenty-five. Children with Special Needs receive additional help and the staff work closely with parents.
Pupils work hard and in 2008 our Key Stage 2 pupils achieved 100% Levels 4s and above in all their end of Key Stage SATs. The school came first in the county league tables as the group of twenty-two pupils was the largest to achieve 100% in all subjects. For more details click on 'Success in North Yorkshire League Tables' in the menu on the left of this page. The 2009 Key stage 2 SATs were so good that we topped 'The Times' league tables too!
In 2006 the school was awarded the Active Mark and Healthy Schools Status with further Active Marks in 2007 and 2008.
The school was inspected in March 2007 and a major part of the inspection process was the school’s own self evaluation. The school’s judgements matched those of the inspector who found us to be a ‘satisfactory school with good features’ and in the report he comments on the school's many strengths as well as areas for improvement. The full report can be found by clicking on the link below.
If you would like to visit the school and meet the staff and pupils we will be pleased to make an appointment for you.
